Direct Debit
Charities can choose from three direct debit options, offering flexibility and choice and enabling charities to automate and grow donor Direct Debit payments.
1. Direct Debit Instruction (DDI) Capture
We can provide DDI capture services so you can quickly capture mandates online, over the phone or by paper sign-up. The instructions can be submitted automatically for processing by our Bureau and Facilities Managed services or integrated with third-party processing solutions.
2. Direct Debit BACS Bureau
We can process Direct Debit payment collections on your behalf as an Indirect Direct Debit Submitter, using your Service User Number provided by your sponsoring bank. We can also integrate this with our online DDI capture service, so you can capture mandates online, over the phone or by paper sign-up.
3. Direct Debit Facilities Management
If your Charity does not have its own Service User Number, then our Direct Debit Facilities Managed BACS-accredited service offers the perfect solution. We’ll also ensure your trading name appears on your donor’s bank statements, reducing the likelihood of cancellations and queries.

Through our cards business Handepay we can provide your Charity with contactless payment terminals that allow donors donate using the latest contactless payment technologies including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. The solution can be used in bulk or over the phone to initiate considerate donations and donors can opt to receive, a link to pay online, a barcode to pay cash donations into one of PayPoints 28,000 retail stores, or they can request a call back in order to pay by phone
The donor can also be given the option to pay a one off donation or to set up a recurring card payment donation. The portal is PCI-compliant and can be used effectively in a call centre environment, providing real-time reporting on donations, and integrates with existing CRM systems via our suite of APIs.

Tone masking removes the risk that card numbers can be recorded or heard by the agent in the call centre when donors key in details on their phone. The audio tone value is replaced with a single monotone that prevents downstream systems from being exposed to this sensitive data. Agents can also only see the last four digits of the card number, which allows them to make sure the transaction is successful without giving them access to the whole number.
