PayPoint and Southern Co-op sign extension to partnership

The extension takes the partnership over 20 years.

Welwyn Garden City, 17 September 2020: Southern Co-op which operates over 200 convenience stores and 50 funeral homes across south England, has extended its partnership with PayPoint

The deal will see the continuation of PayPoint services across Southern Co-op stores taking it over the 20-year mark. Thanks to the partnership renewal, customers in the region will be able to continue to visit their local co-operative convenience store to access services including bill payments, mobile top ups, as well as being able to redeem emergency Cash Out vouchers. The deal also includes the extension of PayPoint’s parcel service, Collect+ in a selection of stores.

As the society has worked with PayPoint for many years, PayPoint’s PPOS platform is incorporated into Southern Co-op’s own EPoS systems. The integration means store customers can be served from more than one till, helping to prevent long queues.

Danny Vant, Client Services Director at PayPoint, said: “I’m delighted to be able to announce the extension of our partnership with Southern Co-op to reach beyond 20 years. This partnership enables millions of people across southern England to continue using services they have increasingly relied on throughout 2020. Our ambition to transform convenience for the modern era can only be achieved through strategic partnerships with businesses, including Co-op, that share our belief in putting the priorities of local communities throughout the UK first.”

Andrew Farndell, Head of Trading and Format at Southern Co-op, said: “PayPoint plays an important part in what we offer customers in our stores and allows us to offer the range of services convenience stores are increasingly known for. Be it shopping, bill payment, or access to cash, PayPoint’s technology helps us keep footfall high throughout our network.”
